Turnip root/Radish Hash

Turnip root/Radish Hash

I know what you're thinking... turnip roots and radishes are not what you want to eat, but hear me out on this one. I never thought I would be eating turnip roots and radishes as often as I am or the way I am eating them. Most of the time when someone says "cooked turnip roots" my mind goes to boiled turnip roots which are not my favorite way to eat them. When people say they are eating radishes, my mind goes to raw radishes in a salad.

For my cooked turnip roots, I peel my turnip roots and cube them. You can cube them into smaller chunks or larger chunks (my personal preference is about 1/2 inch cubes). Heat up your cast iron skillet with some olive oil (or oil of your choice), season your turnip roots with onion powder, salt, pepper, cayenne, and paprika (I like to season pretty heavy) and throw them in the skillet and cook! Cook the until they are soft and put some ground turkey, beef, venison, or pulled pork over them and enjoy!

I do the same exact thing for my radishes. I do not peel my radishes, but I do chop the into the same size chunks and cook them the same way. Pour some meat of your choice and enjoy them! Both the turnip roots and radishes remind me a little of potatoes. They are not as starchy as potatoes. I love them this way and I hope you do too!
